Experimenting!

So today i've been trying out a new type of icing (if you can call it that, more of a topping really) it's made with whipped egg whites and boiling sugar, turns out like a meringue Mmmmmmmm.

I'm thinking maybe plum crumble, baked apple ........ and autumn favourites, let me know.

Just been talking colours and textures today, sticking with the green, pink and chocolate brown theme.

Yup finally i am getting my website sorted, rather excited and a bit nervous too. Today i've been rather busy making one of each cupcake available on the new website, as tomorrow is photo shoot day! Woohoo!

I will also be introducing two new cupcake products 'cake in a jar' (please google it and let me know what you think.) and 'seasonal specials' (cupcakes made with seasonal fruits and flowers)

'hello.......is it me you're looking for?'

Hello hello,
                 I know it's been so long you've probably forgotten what i look like (hmmmmm if you knew before...) apologising muchly.
Have been to a fabulous outdoor production of 'much a do about nothing' this evening with my lovely girl friends in Newcastle. Many laughs, tea, cake and jam scones Mmmmmmmmmm. Would highly recommend.
Almost got blown away on the way home, rather windy on the top of the hill we call home. love it!

Going to try and blog a bit more over the summer hols, with kids at home i'm sure there'll be much hilarity to chat on about.

The last place i ever expected to find a mouse.

For the past month or so my car alarm has been going off in the middle of the night, sometimes three or four times, i've been sleeping with my car keys!!! and am shattered as a result of the disturbed sleep.

At first we thought it might be the battery conking out, but it sits in the drive merrily all day with nothing going off.

very strange.....

Anyhow the plot thickens, i opened the boot to get the pushchair out last week to find it had been nibbled and there were mice droppings in there!!! how on this earth did a mouse get into the boot of my car?

So we set a trap filled with chocolate buttons (mice are rather partial to chocs) and that night the alarm went off as usual (around 2.30ish), next morning we had caught the culprit. Or so we thought.....

The next night the car alarm went off again, What?!! so we set another trap and yes we caught yet another little rodent. 

Question is, and I don't really like thinking about it too much, have i been driving around with a family of mice in the boot? or are they somehow getting in at night?

Anyhow, since the eviction of mouse number two the car alarm has ceased it's nightly flashing and wailing, so i can only come to the conclusion that my car is now mouse free.

Jam and Jerusalem

Can you believe it, i'm going to the monthly Hedley WI (women's institute) meeting tonight. my lovely new neighbour has invited me along, sounds fun!! bring on the jam making!!! will give you all the low down when i get back x

5 little words!!

It is truly amazing the healing power that is held in those words 'you can stay off today'. Within 30 seconds the tiredness had faded, but the heavy cold did remain. So one little semi-poorly girl at home and an afternoon snuggling up to watch movies. Quite a nice alternative to housework!!! xxx

Shattered but feeling good!

Well today was the day, i had my first cake stall, hopefully the first of many. My aim was to promote the business and at least break even, made a great profit of £60, (bonus!!!) and lots of interest for future orders. All in all a success, shattered but happy. Oh and a BIG thank you to those who bought cakes today (that's what it's all about) xxx

Hello lovely people!! well it's been an epic bank holiday weekend. the girls had there belated birthday party on saturday at a lovely little pottery studio in Hexham, muchly enjoyed by all! And I launched into the world of summer fetes and farmers markets today (more of that later) xxx

The girls are back to school tomorrow, and after three weeks of being cooped up in the house with tag team chicken pox, both they and i are seriously ready for it. Most of the hols have been fun filled, but cabin fever has definately kicked in these last couple of days. Bring on the school run!! xxx

Needs a bit of tweaking

Yesterday i tried making summer fruit pavlova cupcakes, mini ones. Hmmmm didn't end up quite how i planned think a few adjustments are needed. Putting fruit in the the cake mix tasted nice but the sponge turned a greyish purple, not so appealing! So i'm thinking vanilla sponge with fruit puree filling and meringue topping, keeping the flavours separate will hopefully look and taste better. Will let you all know how it goes. xxx

Hands on, hands in!!!

After the egg cracking incident i wasn't all that suprised to find my youngest up at the worktop squeezing the block of butter through his fingers, creamed by hand quite literally!!! but totally unusable! He he gotta love um xxx

A tad bit excited!

I'm a happy bunny today, one of my bestest friends is coming over with her children. I've known her since i was 3 and we now live several hundred miles apart. So it's always fab to see her, and chin wag over a cuppa and (today) a strawberry and vanilla cupcake!! Hope you're all having a fun filled day too xxxx

Golly Gosh

Golly gosh what an Easter so far! All three of my little lovelies have either had, are recovering from or are still covered in the 'spotty dottys' otherwise known as chicken pox!! calamine cream galore and lots of baths with bicarb instead of bubbles (amazed at how well that works!), loving all the movies with snuggles on the sofa and lashings of easter chocolate, very good timing!
Righto, off for now, but back soon with some more Easter cupcake photos, mostly chocolate of course!!

loving the sunshine

Wow what a gorgeous day it's been, still one spotty girl at home, but she's been so good about it all. We've spent the whole day out in the garden, trampolining, bbq'ing and bunny snuggling. What more could you want on a sunny afternoon?! Hmmmmmm maybe a strawberries and cream cupcake!!

Chicken pox has hit the Stocks!!

Well....... wouldn't you know it, eve before her 6th birthday and chicken pox spots start to pop up on my little girls bod. :(( pottery party postponed resulting in many tears from both girls (they're twins) as it is their dream doo, Daddy arriving with 'Benny Bunny' and a new bike each soon put a smile on their faces, even if one is a little spotty!!!
Lets hope recovery is on it's way, got a visit to Granny's house planned next weekend xxxx

hello! well tomoz is our 9th wedding anniversary so i thought i'd better use it as an excuse to bake up a new corker of a cupcake. Peanut and milk chocolate - oh my word yum yum yum!! has to be my favourite by far xxx

This is a firm favourite in my house, vanilla cake with a homemade lemon curd centre, 

topped with meringue! Mmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

My girls have been on half term hols this week so we decided to do some 

'crazy cupcakes' here they are!!!
